Futura Retail Solution acquires Swiss competitor Medeas Software

Futura Retail Solution AG’s purchase of Medeas Software AG which was concluded today has resulted in one of the largest and most modern corporations in the field of merchandise management solutions for the fashion and lifestyle industry in Europe. The new, collective management team of Futura Retail Solution AG and Medeas Software AG will be running the expanded corporation with immediate effect. The headquarters in Horgen (Switzerland) and the office near Hamburg (Germany) will both continue to exist. The strategic acquisition will benefit customers through an expanded product portfolio and the collective expertise accumulated over nearly 30 years’ worth of experience in the industry.

Hamburg, 18 February 2010. CFO Urs Prantl (formerly CEO of Medeas Software AG) runs the corporation alongside CEO Vanjo Wandscher. Axel Suck is assuming management of software development for all products. In doing so, he will be supported by Futura4Retail Senior Developer Harry Leu. Reinhard Hopp, formerly of Medeas, will act as future Chief Operating Officer (COO), with Markus Busch as Area Sales and Distribution Manager South for Futura Retail Solution AG.

The purchase of Medeas has caused the Futura Group to grow to approximately 190 employees. Today, the Futura Group serves 2,500 customers (1,600 of Futura, 900 of Medeas) and is active in 27 countries on five continents. The customers include large fashion and retail brands such as s.Oliver, Tommy Hilfiger, Runners Point, Marc O‘Polo and BOGNER as well as the Wortmann Group with its shoe brand Tamaris.
